Give a flying duck

January is a great time of year to plan big adventures, book holidays, or get away from it all for some winter sun, skiing or walks. But it isn’t just us humans that like to travel – Virgin Limited Edition’s ducks are spreading their wings too in our new competition.

There is a special duck for each Virgin Limited Edition property, each with their own personalities and characteristics. You can track down ducks from Mont Rochelle, Ulusaba, Mahali Mzuri, The Roof Gardens, The Lodge, Son Bunyola, Kasbah Tamadot and, of course, Necker Island. Now they will be popping up around the Virgin world, on trains, planes, lounges, health clubs, banks and even balloons.

The ducks are long-time residents here on Necker; I often come across them hanging out with the lemurs and flying with the flamingos. They are firm favourites with my grandchildren. As they are so well-loved and well-travelled, we wanted to launch a competition all about our ducks.

Introducing #GiveAFlyingDuck. To celebrate the New Year, we want you to take a photo of one of our ducks and share it on Instagram using #GiveAFlyingDuck. After taking your photo, pass the duck onto your friends, family, or just for somebody else to find – as long as you give your flying duck.

I will be judging to see who posts their duck from the most ‘duck out of water’ location – somewhere you wouldn’t expect to see a duck, whether it’s inside your home, up a mountain, on a rollercoaster or on a flight – wherever your imagination can think of. The winner will earn a luxury stay at Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, one of my favourite places in the world.

What’s more, for every picture shared using #GiveAFlyingDuck, Virgin Limited Edition will be giving back to charities close to our hearts. Because when you Give a Flying Duck, so do we! Whoever wins the Kasbah Tamadot stay will be able to see first-hand how we support the local community in Morocco with the Eve Branson Foundation.

So enter #GiveAFlyingDuck in 2017 and join our ducks as they journey around the world to see some of the most far-flung places, doing some good while they’re at it. You’d be quackers not to!
