I am so proud of how the Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship is helping empower people to have control over their own destinies in Jamaica.
Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship - Caribbean Jamaica launch Richard Branson
When the Branson Centre moved to its new home in Montego Bay recently, I was on hand to meet the team, the entrepreneurs and the local community that all help to create such a special environment in the Caribbean. You can get a sense of the excitement and the optimism in this Virgin Holidays video of our day.
I had the great privilege of meeting some of the budding businessmen and women and trying their brilliant products.
Everyone I met was ready to showcase their innovative spirit as much as their products and ideas. For example, Dianne Plummer is one of the few women chemical engineers in Jamaica and she has created a range of make-up for women with sensitive skin and eczema after becoming frustrated at the lack of products available for her skin type.

The Branson Centre was set up for companies like this - to give young entrepreneurs the chance to grow and thrive and create wonderful businesses, which will make a difference to people’s lives.
More than £1m has been invested in the Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship through Virgin Holidays - every time a customer books a holiday with us, we donate £1 per adult and 50p per child to invest back into the community and into environmental projects.

We’re really proud to give back to the communities we send holidaymakers to.
The centre was launched by Virgin Unite in 2011 in Montego Bay but recently relaunched in Kingston to be closer to the buzz of the capital city and the entrepreneurial opportunities it offers.
We believe everyone can take on the world – where do you want to go next?
