Researched commissioned by Virgin Media to celebrate their partnership with the British Paralympic Association has revealed just what high public regard the ParalympicsGB team is held in...
In fact, Paralympians topped the poll of which athletes people in the UK believe are the most inspirational for young children with 31 per cent of the vote - significantly ahead of footballers (nine per cent) and rugby players (five per cent).
The research comes in the wake of the announcement of a ‘gold-tier partnership’ between Virgin Media and the British Paralympic Association and the ParalympicsGB team, who will begin competing at the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games on Friday March 9th.
"With the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games just days away it is a wonderful boost to be able to announce this exciting new partnership with Virgin Media," commented Tim Hollingsworth, Chief Executive of the British Paralympic Association.
"We know ParalympicsGB athletes are amongst the most inspirational and the most fearless figures in public life and their success can have a real impact by challenging perceptions of what disabled people can achieve."
Further research has also revealed that Paralympians are considered to be the most fearless of all athletes, as they once again come out on top ahead of footballers and rugby players.
"This is a very proud moment for everyone at Virgin Media. We’re supporting our sensational Paralympians whose mindset and attitude - Be Fearless - is inspiring," added Tom Mockridge, CEO of Virgin Media.
