In August 2014 he founded The Crowd Research Network and was appointed Visiting Fellow at the University of Portsmouth Business Schools, a leading centre for research into the economics of the crowd.

He's founder of UKCrowdfundingWeek and the Crowdfunding: Deep Impact Conference as well as The Social Foundation and a regular columnist for RealBusiness and CrowdfundInsider and is a frequent speaker and visiting lecturer on Crowdfunding, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
He holds a BSc(Hons) degree in Psychology and Mathematics from Lancaster University and his interest include 'disruption', the co-evolution of the Internet with society globally, citizen entrepreneurship and the move to a new, open, collaborative, economy: collaborative capitalism.
