Virgin Galactic is the world’s first commercial spaceline. Together with its sister organisation, The Spaceship Company, it is developing and operating a new generation of space vehicles to open space for everyone.
It’s mission, to be the Spaceline for Earth, means Virgin Galactic focus on using space for good while delivering an unparalleled customer experience.
Virgin Galactic operates the resuable SpaceShipTwo spaceflight system. This consists of VMS Eve, a custom-built, carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo, the world’s first passenger carrying spaceship to be built by a private company and operated in commercial service.
The first Virgin Galactic spaceship to enter service will be VSS Unity. Built by The Spaceship Company, Unity and her sister spaceships will, for the first time, offer everyone the opportunity to become private astronauts and experience the wonder of space for themselves. The spaceships will also give the research community a unique platform for space-based science.
Spaceflights will depart and return to Virgin Galactic’s Gateway to Space at Spaceport America, New Mexico - the world’s first purpose built commercial spaceport.
Through the democratization of space, Virgin Galactic seek to inspire young people via its outreach initiative Galactic Unite. Born out of a unique collaboration between Galactic’s Future Astronaut Community and Richard Branson’s foundation, Virgin Unite, it harnesses the power of space to support and inspire young people to pursue an education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.)
