Virgin Hotels started 2015 year with a bang, opening its first property in Chicago.
2016 is also proving to be a big year for the company, with plans just announced to open Virgin Hotels Palm Springs in late 2018. Virgin Hotels CEO, Raul Leal said, "Opening a property in California has been on our wish-list since day one, and as Palm Springs has grown beyond its reputation of a retreat for Californians, we knew it was the perfect location for a Virgin Hotel."
The new hotel will be located in the heart of the downtown area, on Main Street and Palm Springs Canyon Drive, surrounded by historic desert modern architecture and within walking distance of an array of art galleries, shopping boutiques and restaurants.
The hotel itself is set to feature 150 Chambers and Grand Chamber Suites; a number of dining and drinking outlets – including the brand's flagship space, The Commons Club – plus numerous meeting spaces, and a rooftop terrace and pool overlooking the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains.
Local architect, Chris Pardo has been tasked with designing the new hotel, and is expected to deliver a space like no other. "Virgin is not just a hotel, but a new and completely different experience – one that can be enjoyed not only by our visitors, but by everyone in the community," said Michael Braun, of Virgin Hotels’ development partner Wessman Development.
The hotel will be Virgin Hotels’ fifth property. Hotels in Nashville, New York and Dallas are already in the works, as Virgin Hotels continues to explore opportunities in cities across the US and the globe.
