The world is facing a critical crossroads with decreasing natural resources, challenges to business ethics and decreasing happiness at work, Which is one of the many reasons we’re so excited about the launch of Virgin Media Business VOOM 2016.
In an effort to highlight and celebrate entrepreneurs working to tackle these issues, we've introduced the Impact Award – it’s time to do business differently and we believe entrepreneurship holds the answers. With this in mind, while Richard Branson is seeking out the most innovative businesses in the UK and Ireland, we’re asking businesses to also put themselves forward for the new Impact Award, sponsored by Virgin Unite.
This award celebrates businesses which create measurable social and environmental impact through their core business model, something we champion loudly here at Virgin Unite. There’s a fantastic prize on offer too – we’ll be inviting the winner to join Virgin Unite’s ‘Disrupting for Good’ 2017 gathering, with will feature a unique programme of high profile speakers and guests on Richard Branson’s Necker Island.
Increasingly, many start-ups are considering people and planet, as well as profit. Entrepreneurs are leading the way and developing innovative solutions, such as green tech. They are also setting up ethical supply chains that are fair for all and giving employees meaningful work in supportive workplaces.
We can’t wait to hear about what’s happening out there, so when you apply just make sure you tick the Impact Award box and you could find your way on to our speed interview round at Virgin HQ with our expert panel. We’ll also help the winner prepare for the trip to Necker with six hours of coaching and mentoring from the Virgin Unite team.
This year’s VOOM theme is about survival and it’s time to transform our thinking from pure business survival to helping our environment and people thrive.
