DS, the title sponsor of DS Virgin Racing, has revealed a brand new carbon fibre-bodied electric supercar concept, inspired by Formula E.
The DS E-Tense uses the new DS Performance brand and the all-electric powertrain links the road car with DS Virgin Racing's team, as well as previewing future drivetrains for the brand. The car is equipped with a 100 per cent electric 402 hp engine with 516 Nm torque – it’s clean, silent but also efficient and powerful.
“Our ambition was to create a high-performance electric GT,” DS says. “A car that embodies refinement, technology, and DS design. A car that inspires dreams. A car that gives you the overpowering urge to get behind the wheel.”
Promising a top speed of 155mph and 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds, the car is a result of months of design and testing, with more than 800 hours being spent on the interior alone.
The DS Virgin Racing team are currently preparing for the fifth race of the second Formula E season, which takes place on March 12th, 2016 in Mexico City. They've got high hopes after Sam Bird's incredible win in Buenos Aires in February. Follow the latest news from DS Virgin Racing on LinkedIn.
