Never stay silent

For many, today marks the start of a new school year – new classrooms, subjects, and for some, new schools altogether. With over 10 million children starting back today it should be the start of an exciting new chapter, but sadly not everyone feels so positively about it.

Research shows that almost half of adults in the UK report being bullied at school, with nearly a quarter of 15-year-olds saying at least one of their friends is worried about going to school due to bullying.

The Diana Award has an amazing anti-bullying campaign called #Back2School – it’s the leading Anti-Bullying Campaign in the UK and Ireland, dedicated to providing young people, professionals and parents/carers the skills, confidence and training to tackle all forms of bullying as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

It’s a campaign I feel very passionate about – everyone has the right to learn, thrive and grow, feeling happy and safe – which is why I wanted to share my personal experience of bullying at school.

No matter how you’re feeling and whatever your situation, never think you’re alone. There is always someone to talk to so please don’t stay silent.

A whole host of people, from Rio Ferdinand to Giovanna Fletcher have also shared their experience of school, offering advice and guidance on how to deal with bullying – they're really special stories.

The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Campaign is encouraging everyone to get involved across social media channels by posting/sharing a picture of them back at school with their advice and if they choose to, text a donation to support the training of young Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in every school. Let’s tackle this together.

Text ANTI17 to 70070 with one of the following amounts: £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10  For example: ANTI17 £1 to 70070. (UK only*).
