On Sunday, Virgin Sport will host its very first sporting event in London, and it’s safe to say I’m excited.
The Virgin Sport team has been working tirelessly to get everything planned and ready and it looks set to be a great day – think fitness bootcamp, dance party and festival vibes.
Having completed the Virgin Strive Challenge last year, I can really empathise with the sheer mental and physical strength needed to complete fitness challenges. There are moments of real struggle, and moments of utter elation, and if there’s one thing we want people to take away from our Virgin Sport events, it’s that we’re all in it together and committed to making challenge fun.
How can you get involved? Well registration for the Hackney Half has closed, but there’s still time to sign up for the Hackney 5.5k, which is a run all about celebrating togetherness and encouraging you to give 110 per cent – hence the extra 0.5k. Sign up closes this Friday and tickets are 2 for 1 so you can invite a friend and run together.
If, like me, you aren’t running either the Hackney 5.5k or the Hackney Half this time, there are so many other ways to get involved. Not least, through sweat and stretch sessions that will be taking place on the Go Fit Yourself stage. This is set to be the perfect place for people of any fitness ability to get moving and have some fun, whilst being led by high profile personal trainers. You might even see me taking part in a warm-up stretch session with some competition winners!
There really is nothing more encouraging than supporting someone’s journey and seeing them achieve their goals, which is why I’ll be there on Sunday, alongside my Dad and brother Sam, cheering you all on – good luck, have fun, and go for it!
Oh and don’t forget to tweet pictures, stories and highlights from the day using @virgin_sport so we can see what you get up to. See you Sunday!
