The new way to fly economy on Virgin Atlantic

When I started Virgin Atlantic in 1984 we wanted to change the way people fly – to make it amazing and unforgettable, wherever you are sat in the plane.

Fast-forward to 2018 and the reasons why flights on many airlines have become unforgettable are increasingly for the wrong reasons!

People at the front of the plane are having a fantastic experience, and people at the back are not. We want everyone to have an amazing time.

Lately a lot of airlines have started stripping back their service in economy – that’s not what we’re about at Virgin Atlantic. We’re investing in the future of flying economy and from spring 2018 customers will be able to choose to fly ‘economy light’, ‘economy classic’ or ‘economy delight’.

Fliers choosing ‘economy light’ will pay less on the fare but still get inclusive food, drink and inflight entertainment, hand baggage and Flying Club miles. ‘Economy classic’ will provide the little extras that make a difference such as hold luggage, free seat assignment and a higher rate of Flying Club miles. ‘Economy delight’ will give you all this and a lot more legroom and comfort with a 34” pitch, bespoke seat and priority boarding.

It will give our fliers more choice to suit their budget and travel style – but never compromising on inclusive food and drink, unrivalled service, and inflight entertainment.

It will be the biggest change to our economy cabin in more than a decade as part of a wider £300 million investment in our customers - we always want flying with Virgin Atlantic to be more special than other airlines.

There will be the best economy meals served in the sky, a more personalised service at the airport, in-seat USB charging points and access to high speed Wi-Fi for all, and even a new scent…
