If people are healthy and happy, they can be their most productive. I have always wanted to create a culture at work where people can be at their best and shine.
It’s great to see more and more companies embracing it too – for us, this is where Virgin Pulse comes in. I’m proud we now have the world’s largest digital employee wellbeing and engagement company. We have more than 3,300 companies across 190 countries, and we are just getting started.
Fitness plays such a huge part in staying healthy for me. I’ve just finished the week-long Strive Challenge, where I cycled, hiked and summited mountains in the Alps to raise money for Big Change. Having a challenge in my diary every September really helps motivate me to keep my fitness up so I’m ready for it. Sometimes all you need is something to work towards!
There are so many races, classes, and workouts out there it can be hard to know what you should do – I think the most important thing is just to keep active – wherever you are and however works for you.
It can be hard to build things into your routine, especially when you probably already feel like you have enough to get done. I often feel like this when I’m jumping from project to project, and over the years I’ve had to make a conscious effort to put my health and fitness first (after all, you only have one body, so it makes sense to try and look after it!)
I’ve been doing some weights in the gym for the best part of a year now and I feel so much stronger in myself and more toned!
Virgin Pulse have put together a few handy tips and tricks of things you can do to be more active while at work.
I’m all for the suggestion of standing meetings – we’ve got this going at Virgin Management in London and have even devised some easy walking routes so you can walk and talk without wondering too much where you are going.
What are your tips for being more active every day?
