There are few things I love more than travelling, discovering amazing locations and turning them into magical retreats for others to enjoy too. That is why we started Virgin Limited Edition, which now includes Mahali Mzuri, The Roof Gardens, Kasbah Tamadot, Mont Rochelle, Ulusaba, Son Bunyola, Necker Belle, and of course Necker Island.
One of my favourite unique retreats (ok, they’re all my favourites!) in Virgin Limited Edition’s collection is The Lodge, our mountain hideaway in the Swiss Alps.
Ever since the grandchildren arrived, The Lodge has become even more special. It’s wonderful seeing Etta, Artie, Eva-Deia and Bluey enjoying new experiences and exploring the great outdoors.
This year Sam took Eva-Deia out for her first skiing lessons – I absolutely love this video of my son taking his daughter in his arms and showing her how to ski. It could lead to a lifetime of enjoyment for them out on the slopes together.
As Sam wrote: “Being a parent is such a joy. You get to look at life again through a fresh pair of eyes and experience things in their raw form again. Everything is new and it helps you stay in touch with what really matters in this life... Love, challenge, learning and growing!” I couldn’t agree more.
Sam also found time to practice his backflips and get out into the mountains on his bike, following eagles soaring above while he cycled. I’m keen to join him on the next cycle, but I’m not sure I could pull that backflip off!
When not out on the slopes, I love the setting for getting through my work back at The Lodge. Much as I do on Necker Island, I try to create the perfect balance between work and play, and enjoy the great outdoors.
With that in mind, we’re sharing a four nights for the price of three offer at The Lodge this summer – head over to Virgin Limited Edition to book yours. Wherever you take your break, keep these wise words from Sam in mind: “No matter where you live, try to get outside and do something fun this spring. Nature is always only a couple of hours’ away... and it's well worth the effort.”
