#ChallengeRichard – table tennis takedown

Many of you will know I am a keen tennis player, but my table tennis game has been put to the test far less often. That all changed when I travelled to Los Angeles this week, as Virgin Produced set me a #challengerichard to take on the office with bat and ball.

I spent a fun morning at the office meeting Virgin Produced’s team and learning more about our upcoming film projects. It was wonderful catching up with all the team, and I’m really excited about a big year ahead for the company. Then I prepared for the serious business of the table tennis takedown with my favourite English Breakfast cuppa – thanks to the creative team for the toilet bowl mug, I was flushed with pleasure!

Once it was table tennis time, I quickly discovered the Virgin Produced team talked a good game, but I had the edge on the table. Whatever the sport - or business, for that matter – I’m very competitive. Thankfully I managed to win out against all-comers, and left the office undefeated. Virgin Produced CEO Jason Felts’ reaction to the game? “We will stick to surfing here in Santa Monica.” Fair enough.

That wasn’t the end of my table tennis takedowns in Los Angeles this week. When I visited the Virgin Galactic team at Long Beach, their reigning table tennis champ was waiting for me. After giving me a bat with a hole in the middle to begin with, I just about got on top.

To finish off the game I invited Maja, a former tennis pro who now runs Galactic Unite, to help me out. I’m happy to say I remained undefeated!

Thanks for some fun games to all the teams, that’s another #challengerichard ticked off. Now, who wants to take me on at table tennis next?
