An alumna of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Esther first discovered the persuasive power of storytelling during her years working as an admission officer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. As a top tier school, they had far more highly qualified applicants than seats available. Those who tell compelling stories tend to stand out and win admissions.
Since launching Leadership Story Lab in 2010, she has coached hundreds of managers at U.S. Fortune 500 companies (Allstate, Baxter Healthcare, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Groups, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, US Cellular and others), helping many of them get promoted, excel in their jobs, and motivate their teams and customers through storytelling.
To-date her investment-firm clients have raised over $5 billions in new assets under management, and have represented one of the first Western companies to win an account with a prominent Mainland Chinese Sovereign Wealth Fund. Esther has also worked with the boards of directors of nonprofits to enhance their fundraising capability. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and a lecturer at Kellogg School of Management’s Executive Education Programs.
Esther spent most of her childhood in Hong Kong and is currently living in Chicago with her husband and children. Her first book, titled Let the Story Do the Work, published by AMACOM Books is now available for pre-ordering online.
