Today it was announced that both Sam and I will be taking part in an incredible campaign on September 20th – a campaign to raise money and awareness for refugees.
The refugee population currently exceeds 22 million, the worst refugee crisis since the Second World War. With so many people being forced to flee conflict and persecution across the world there couldn’t be a more important time to unite and stand in solidarity with refugees.
Amnesty International and SoFar Sounds have teamed up to create Give a Home – a huge global campaign that will see 300 gigs take place in people’s homes in more than 60 countries worldwide on September 20th.
It’s going to be a really special day/night and Sam and I are beyond excited to be taking part.
In fact, Sam is opening up his home to host his own gig with the brilliant Emeli Sandé, and I’m feeling super lucky to have my good friend Ed Sheeran perform at my gig, in a house in DC.
You can apply for tickets through SoFar Sounds any time before September 10th through sofarsounds.com/giveahome or alternatively through the Virgin RED app where we have a special reverse auction taking place.
Let me explain; Unlike a traditional auction where the highest bid wins the prize, the winner of a Reverse Auction is the person who makes the lowest unique bid. Technically this means someone could win the prize with a bid of just £1 – as long as no one else bids that amount. All you need to do is take a guess at what you think the lowest and most unique bid could be and if you win, Virgin Red will be in touch to let you know. Just remember that you’ll be asked to pay the amount you bid if you do win, so bid wisely and good luck!
Virgin RED has just one pair of tickets per gig, and the auctions start next week so make sure you download the app in advance!
I encourage you all to apply for tickets and show your support and compassion for those forced to flee their homes – let’s unite through a love of music and a passion for change.
