Workout weary? Hackney's annual fitness festival is back

It’s just over a month until Virgin Sport takes over Hackney Marshes with the Hackney Festival of Fitness and tickets are on sale now.

This year the festival has expanded to three days and will feature a new Market on the Marshes as well as fitness activities and classes for all ages and abilities.

The weekend kicks off on Friday May 17th with pre-race stretch and mobility sessions, plus a variety of local food and drink trucks in the fitness festival village at Hackney Marshes. Saturday will feature a full day of fitness experiences for all ages and abilities, as well as a free Community 5k. The weekend ends on Sunday with the main event: the Hackney Half. There are still places available if you want to sign up.

Across Friday and Saturday there’ll be various classes going on, including Grid and Revolution sessions from Virgin Active, Ministry of Sound Fitness, Sweat & Sound and Fight Klub. Massage and wellness classes will also be available and a team of osteopaths will be on site to provide taping and discuss any injury concerns.

If you fancy trying something new, a team of top paddleboard professionals from CITY PADDLE will be providing live demos and have-a-go sessions. Plus on Saturday you can take your yoga practice to the water for stand up paddleboard yoga sessions with the Association of Paddlesurf Professionals on the pop-up pool at Hackney Marshes.

As well as all the fitness sessions, there’s plenty of entertainment going on across the weekend with Disco Freaks and The Menendez Brothers providing the soundtrack to your workouts across Friday and Saturday. And on Friday night you can enjoy a feature length film at Fit Films open air cinema on Hackney Marshes.

The Virgin Sport Hackney Festival of Fitness runs May 17th - 19th. Tickets start from £15 and are available on the Virgin Sport website now.
