Virgin Money and Virgin Atlantic announce reward credit cards

Virgin Money and Virgin Atlantic have teamed up to announce the first products under a new partnership between the two companies.

The Virgin Atlantic Reward and Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Credit Cards will enable customers to earn Flying Club miles when using their card – which can then be exchanged for the full range of Flying Club rewards, including flights and cabin upgrades.

With the Virgin Atlantic Reward Credit Card, you can earn 0.75 Flying Club miles for every £1 spent, plus a bonus of 5,000 bonus miles with your first card purchase (within 90 days of opening the account). As well as that, you’ll get double miles for all direct bookings with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays – and if you spend £20,000 in a year you can choose a credit card reward. This all comes with no annual fee.

The Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Credit Card offers you a little more – you’ll get 1.5 Flying Club miles for every £1 you spend on the card, plus 15,000 bonus miles for your first card purchase (within 90 days of opening the account). You’ll still earn double miles on any direct bookings with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays and you’ll be able to choose a credit card reward if you spend £10,000 in a year. You’ll also gain access for over a million global WiFi hotspots via Boingo Wi-Fi – and all for just £160 a year.

Credit card awards available for customers who meet the spending thresholds include a free Premium upgrade for Red Flying Club members, or an Economy reward companion seat to take a friend on a reward flight for no additional miles. Silver members can choose from these same options, as well as a Premium reward companion seat or a pass for a Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. Gold Flying Club members can choose two Clubhouse passes, and Economy, Premium or Upper Class reward companion seats, or a free Premium upgrade.

“We are incredibly excited to launch our new credit cards. With our cards customers can earn miles on their everyday spend to redeem for flights and upgrades and more,” Oliver Byers, SVP of Sales and Customer Loyalty at Virgin Atlantic, said. “On top of that we’re offering our most valuable customers even more choice of rewards, so that they can create the Virgin Atlantic experience that suits them best.’’

Jayne-Anne Gadhia, Virgin Money CEO, added: “We’re delighted to be launching the first products from our exciting new partnership with Virgin Atlantic, in a market that’s seen greatly reduced customer choice in recent years. Together we are offering customers an easy way to earn Flying Club miles and access to a brilliant range of Flying Club and Virgin Group benefits, all supported by the outstanding service customers expect from the Virgin brand.”

Virgin Atlantic Reward and Reward+ Credit Card holders will also benefit from access to Virgin Money Lounges, where customers can relax, put their feet up and enjoy the surroundings – refreshments are free, and there’s iPads to use, newspapers to read and facilities to keep the children entertained.
