Virgin Atlantic is launching the world’s first comedy festival in the sky to celebrate becoming the first airline in Europe to offer fleetwide WiFi.
The #LiveFromVirgin Comedy Festival will be headlined and curated by comedian and actress Abbi Jacobsen of Broad City. Abbi and five other comedians will take to the skies with Virgin Atlantic for a one-of-a-kind comedy festival on September 28th, 2017.
The comedians will perform unique comedy ‘sets’ by posting tweets and Instagram Stories to their accounts using the hashtag #LiveFromVirgin, all from the comfort of their cabin seats. Comedians will fly from London to six US destinations – New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston and LA, bringing comedy to the Twittersphere and across Instagram. The Comedy Festival marks the first instalment of #LiveFromVirgin – a new and ongoing platform designed to highlight the magic of connectivity on Virgin Atlantic flights.
“I’m really excited about this project and the creative control that Virgin Atlantic is giving me, not only over the lineup I’m building but the form my performance takes,” Abbi said. “I’m definitely looking to use the opportunity to experiment, take some risks, and see what happens inflight.”
Mark Anderson, executive vice president, customer at Virgin Atlantic, added: “Starting this month, customers flying around the world with Virgin Atlantic can work and play throughout their flight on our fully WiFi enabled fleet. Innovation has always been in our DNA, and we’ve worked closely with WiFi providers to develop the fastest, most reliable connection across the Atlantic.”
To tune in to the #LiveFromVirgin Comedy Festival, follow the hashtage on September 28th, as well as @VirginAtlantic and @AbbiJacobsen on Twitter and Instagram.
Together with partner Delta Air Lines, this is the first joint venture to offer WiFi across its entire transatlantic fleet. Customers can now stay connected at 35,000 feet on up to 39 flights each day between the US and the UK, as well as on connecting flights on Delta to over 200 North American destinations.
