The film, which stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, tells the story of Stephen's relationship with his wife Jane, from when they met at Cambridge University, to how she stood by him and supported him when he was diagnosed with motor neuron disease.
It also covers Hawking's scientific career, the discoveries he has made, and of course his famous bestseller A Brief History of Time.
"It’s quite something to be the subject of a major film. It makes you realise how short life is when they cut out the boring bits," Stephen Hawking joked on his Facebook page. "But in all seriousness, I am honoured and humbled by the film that was made. Always support those who struggle and always strive to prevail even when you think you cannot."
The Theory of Everything is released in the US on November 7th and in the UK on January 1st.
