Virgin Atlantic premiered their new advertising campaign recently, but did you know that the cabin crew members featured are all real life cabin crew?
Take a look at the video below to peak behind the scenes of the advert and meet the cabin crew...
Watching Virgin Atlantic adverts in the past always made me want to work for the company, so appearing in one now is crazy.
Otis, Rhys, Pam, Jade and Gemma, spent a week in Kiev to film the advert. Virgin Atlantic’s Ruby blog caught up with them after to find out what they’ll remember most about the experience and how they feel about starring in something that will be seen by millions of people.
“I’m still in shock that I got chosen!” said Gemma. “The reason I wanted to take part was to visit a new destination, step out of my comfort zone and experience something completely different. I didn’t really think about the fact that’s it going to be on TV, and friends and family outside of Virgin will actually see it it! We honestly had the best time over in Ukraine, so it’s lovely to see the end product and remember creating it.”
“I feel so lucky to have been picked to appear in the advert,” Rhys added. “Watching Virgin Atlantic adverts in the past always made me want to work for the company, so appearing in one now is crazy.”
“What surprised me most about the whole process was just how many hardworking and talented people were involved in producing the advert, and how many hours it took to create the finished, polished product at the end,” said Pam. “People were literally working around the clock – building the set, making ‘ice cream’, being chaperones and driving us around, and ensuring everyone was in the right place at the right time. There were 72 extras, and the aircraft was on hydraulics in order for it to shift a full 30 degrees to each side. I do aerial hoops in my spare time, so for me the best bit was having my own stunt man Sergio and being on wires for a scene where the aircraft rig actually tips to the side. That was so much fun!”
As Otis explains, due to the technicality of some of the shots that were filmed, a bespoke 787 cabin interior was made, using genuine seats and materials so that it looks just like a real aircraft. And the finished result? Amazing. “It was a great opportunity to be a part of this advert and show the world that Virgin Atlantic is still the coolest airline above the clouds.”
