Who run the world? Girls. And here are our favourite female musical moments from 2013 to prove it.
1, When misogyny received the middle finger
So maybe Miley Cyrus hasn't quite yet caught a wave in the feminism flow, but that doesn't mean that the rising musical stars of 2013 held their silence too.
Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry gave the royal salute to sexual online abuse when she retaliated with her eloquently written Guardian piece.
In her slightly sordid GQ cover shoot Beyonce disclosed a few more of her pearls of Beydom: "You know, equality is a myth, and for some reason, everyone accepts the fact that women don't make as much money as men do. I don't understand that. Why do we have to take a backseat?!" Here Here!

- Have a baby - check
- Rock a world tour - done
- Bring out a surprise album with a video, for every.single.song - no biggie
Congratulation Mrs Carter on possibly your busiest, biggest and most successful year yet - we salute you...
5, Oh hey, HAIM

They're sassy and smart and judging by this adorable video of them alongside Phoenix - great fun to festival with...
