Virgin Media Business has revealed the top 40 businesses that have made it through to the next round of the VOOM 2016 business competition.
The top 40 have been selected after the epic 29 hour Pitchathon that saw 158 entrepreneurs pitch their ideas, setting a new Guinness World Records title for the longest business pitch marathon.
The businesses from across the UK and Ireland include a brewery, plastic road solution, folding mobility scooter and frozen smoothie kits.
“It was extremely tough to select just 40 businesses,” Peter Kelly, MD of Virgin Media Business and one of the judges who sat on the panel for 29 hours, said. “The calibre and variety of all the pitches we heard was of a very high standard and gives us great confidence in the future of UK entrepreneurship.”
The top 40 businesses will participate in competitive workshops on June 13th and 14th, where they will be put through their paces to determine the feasibility, scalability and likelihood of success. The six businesses with the most potential will then get the chance to pitch at the live finale on June 28th in front of Richard Branson, Tyra Banks, Sara Blakely, Marcus Butler and Peter Kelly.
