In pictures: Pitch to Rich Detroit

Last week saw Pitch to Rich make its American debut, as four of Detroit’s hottest start-ups presented their ideas to an expert panel...

As Virgin Atlantic touched down in the Motor City for the first time Richard Branson saw it as the perfect opportunity to get to know some of the local entrepreneurs helping to regenerate Detroit. It also served as good practice for the Virgin Group founder, who has the UK Pitch to Rich final coming up in London on June 26th.

Such was the strength of the four pitching businesses the judges decided to give each one their own bespoke prize. Social entrepreneur Dave Merritt is to receive mentorship from Virgin Unite, furniture designers Ali Sandifer will get help building their new website, the popular furniture bracket manufacturers Floyd will be spreading the word of their business in the UK with free Virgin Atlantic flights to London and the guys from Original Stix will be able to travel the US on business trips for free thanks to Delta.

Have a look at what happened as the city's start-ups proved that they certainly weren't too proud to pitch...
