Before our latest Virgin Disruptors debate on employee wellbeing the President of LeanIn.org, Rachel Thomas, gave a fascinating talk on how work can work for parents…
So, what did we learn? You can check out the highlights from the fascinating talk below or take in these four brief snippets.
1. In the 1960s, only 30 per cent of women were in the workforce.
2. 70 per cent of modern couples are dual earners, with fathers spending three times as much time with their children and twice as much time on housework than in the 1960s.
3. Today, working mums spend more time with their children than stay-at-home mums did in the 1960s.
4. Google increased their maternity leave from 12 to 18 weeks and as a result the rate of new mothers leaving dropped by 50 per cent, the scheme paid for itself.
