Virgin Red has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Media Executive to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract as maternity cover.

You'll be acting as the social media manager for Virgin's social media channels. This involves managing Virgin Management's social media presence and social engagement across the Virgin Group, ensuring that our social media offerings are best in class. Sound good? Find out more.

Key responsibilities involve:

  • Developing the Virgin brand’s social voice depending on platform and audience. Developing and updating Group-wide Social Media Guidelines.

  • Helping create and collate the social agenda across Virgin Group content through social engagement, campaigns and competitions.

  • Liaising and keeping an up to date record of social contacts in Virgin companies around the world to create a unified, official tone of voice and Virgin social presence. Providing Virgin companies with best practice, relevant contacts and information – as well as aiding new Virgin companies onboard the Virgin social media way. 

  • Investigating and introducing new social platforms and content trends for the team and wider Virgin Group where appropriate.

  • Creating and distributing compelling social content across Virgin’s digital platforms, including new and emerging sites.

  • Acting as the team lead on specific projects, collaborating with various departments in Virgin Management and Virgin Red.

  • Offering support and guidance to VCOs as they develop their own social strategies.

  • Acting as lead on relationships with social agencies such as Hootsuite, Recruit for Spouses, and any new related partners in the future.

  • Leading on the development of social-specific content to reflect changes in the content strategy during the short and long term.

  • Providing positive engagement on and social platforms. Commenting on relevant Virgin Group content posts on and elsewhere across the web, engaging with readers and driving further interaction.

  • Developing and running social campaigns and competitions, paid and organic, from concept to delivery and measurement.

  • Research and recommendations into new and emerging social platforms.

  • Detailed reporting on social engagement, customer service and digital performance.

  • Virgin Group social liaison for emergency PR purposes and day to day engagement/social ideas/ news.

  • Speak on behalf of Virgin Management about the brand’s social media presence/ strategy/ attitudes/ tone of voice.

  • Leading on social media advertising strategy, execution and reporting, ensuring paid social content is optimised for best performance.

  • Partnering with teams across the business to manage social customer service; guiding people through the digital Virgin universe, managing social media relationships with external customer service agency Recruit for Spouses and Virgin companies.

  • Ensuring that customer service issues are engaged/ with responded to and carrying out general positive engagement with all of those commenting on and all social properties, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and emerging platforms.
