Virgin Trains have announced they will be sponsoring this summers Manchester International Festival, which will feature performances from bands such as The xx and actors including Kenneth Branagh, who will be taking a leading role in Macbeth.

Tickets for the festival, which runs from July 4th to July 21st, have already gone on sale with the rail network operator confirming it will be holding competitions and ticket giveaways in the build-up to the event.

Other highlights of the festival calendar include Mogwai performing live to Zidane, A 21st Century Portrait, Goldfrapp performing live with the Royal Northern College of Musics string orchestra, panel discussions such as Are We Powerless which will be chaired by Evan Davis and a series of free art exhibitions.
