Fort Lauderdale holidays
Fort Lauderdale, known as the Venice of America due to its intricate canals and waterways, is fast gaining a reputation as one of the coolest parts of America. So maybe now is the time to hop on a plane and see what all the fuss is about.
First thing to see will be the waterbus that takes you around the quaint waterways. After that you can visit a range of great museums to help you expand your mind, such as the interactive Museum of Discovery and Science, the Museum of Art or the Old Fort Lauderdale Village and Museum. If Museums aren't your thing, then way not pass some time at the quintessential American hang-out, the shopping mall.
Sawgrass Mills houses over 400 stores and is one of the biggest outlet malls in the whole of the United States. If your fashion tastes are more discerning, then head down to Las Olas Boulevard and pick up the latest designs from the trendy boutiques that await you there.
Not far from Fort Lauderdale lie the famous Everglades. The iconic airboats offer a fast-paced trip through the swampy waters where you can get a close-up look at alligators in their natural environment. There are more great things for nature lovers to see, especially the 95 acre Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, located slap bang in the middle of town. Here you'll find mischievous monkeys, colourful orchids and other exotic plant life.
If you want to get a taste of the famous American nightlife then make a beeline for Boca Raton, full of swanky bars, fine restaurants and trendy clubs.
