Chicago, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the US is home to the world’s first skyscraper at the central business district, The Loop. There are plenty of theatres to enjoy in Chicago, or you can take a trip down to Lake Michigan and have a swim, go sailing or even canoeing in the glistening waters.
The Magnificent Mile is perfect for the shopping fanatics among us, with incredible fashion boutiques and bargain outlooks! Food is at its finest here, with Chinatown, Little Italy and Greektown offering an array of different food fancies. Michigan Avenue hosts the majority of the nice eateries around Chicago, along with some fantastic bars and clubs.
If you are into your music, this is the perfect place for you. Chicago is the home of jazz and blues and holds a number of special music festivals dedicated to the bluesy music the year round. Chicago is the epicentre for jazz and blues with over 200 festivals and parades held every year in the windy city.
For a peaceful or romantic adventure, the Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park holds a stunning light, water and music show in the summer - certainly an unforgettable experience. The Navy Pier is brimming with amusement rides you can take your family to along with restaurants and countless shops.
What To Do
Chicago is a city with everything for the Virgin traveller, from a music scene overflowing with talent and venues (House of Blues, Hot House and the Cotton Club are all here) to spectacular landmarks like the Sears Tower Skydeck. The Art Institute of Chicago is a certain treat for culture vultures and the Magnificent Mile is where to find shopping institutions like Tiffany's, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales.

There is always something new going on in the culinary world in Chicago. Try new eateries like Longman & Eagle and The Purple Pig, as well as the hotly-tipped Macku Sushi.
