Vancouver holidays
Vancouver is usually associated with snow and ski holidays because of its proximity to Whistler and Banff National Parks, but the city itself holds all kinds of exciting sights to see and indulge in. North America’s biggest city park – Stanley Park is in the western part of Vancouver and a treat to behold.
The Vancouver aquarium is in the very centre of Stanley Park, with all kinds of beautiful sea creatures like dolphins and incredible whales for you to see. You can experience watching them in their natural habitat further down the Canadian coast.
Canada is fantastic for shopping and Vancouver is no exception. Robson Street being the centre of downtown Vancouver, you can get extremely good value for money here. If you are looking for fashionable shops, take a little trip to Yaletown.
You definitely do not need a car with the very reasonable cost of public transport in the city. You can catch a ferry for a more scenic way of getting around the city or try the awesome SkyTrain. In terms of exquisite cuisine, Vancouver has become renowned for its quality of Asian and Pacific-Rim cuisine. It is no surprise that Vancouver has the second largest Chinatown on the continent.
What To Do
Many people stop by Vancouver on Virgin travel trips while on skiing ventures to nearby Banff and Whistler National Parks. However, it is well worth visiting, with attractions such as the biggest city park in North America (Stanley Park) and the second largest Chinatown. Get around on the state of the art SkyTrain, or gently explore on the ferry. The shops on Robson Street and Yaletown are well worth a visit too.
Where To Eat
Now recognised as one of the Virgin destinations to go to for gourmet food, Vancouver is renowned for Asian-Pacific Rim cuisine (check out Azia Restaurant and others). Rasputin Restaurant and Shark Club Bar and Grill carry healthy reputations. Capone's Restaurant & Live Jazz Club is a great place to get dining and dancing in this Virgin destination.
