Galactic's WhiteKnightTwo takes to the skies

The world’s first commercial spaceline, Virgin Galactic, has released an exclusive picture of the ‘mothership’ WhiteKnightTwo making its 79th flight at Spaceport America, New Mexico.

WhiteKnightTwo is designed to carry Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo up to a release point of 50,000 feet at the beginning of each space flight before letting the spacecraft go solo.

It was the first time that WhiteKnightTwo had taken to the skies this year, following a period of routine downtime for annual inspections and maintenance.
