What are your train journey essentials?

What can you not be without on your train journey? Everyone has their own way of enjoying a commute or a longer trip by train. Here's the thoughts of one traveller...

One essential item I would not be without on my journey with Virgin Trains would be my iPod. Because it holds everything, well everything I would need for a train journey. I can listen to music and also play games. I would also take a book, this most probably being a school book I’m forced to read. I would take it because it’s a good way to pass time while on a train.

People I’ve seen on train journeys are mostly reading, whether it’s books, magazines, newspapers or iPads. Or they are sitting there with their headphones in their ears. I think reading on trains is so popular because instead of sitting in the quiet not doing anything it entertains people, and it gives them something to do on a journey.

Personally, I enjoy listening to music, something I’m very interested in. This is also maybe why people read books, they enjoy doing so and it interests them, so not only does it pass time, it entertains people.
