Virgin Trains have recorded the highest ever score in the National Passenger Survey for a long distance rail operator, with a 92% total for overall customer satisfaction.
The highly respected National Passenger Survey provides a picture of customers’ satisfaction within rail travel. Passenger opinions of train services are collected twice a year, with a focus on overall satisfaction, stations, trains and 32 different aspects of service.
“Our customers have given a clear message to anyone who hasn’t travelled on the West Coast mainline for a while: our services are fast and our staff are fantastic. We’re grateful to our customers for recognising us in this way. If you’re not yet one of our customers - come and give us a try,” commented Virgin Trains’ Chief Executive Officer, Tony Collins.
“We know we’re not perfect and there are clear areas where we need to improve. Our station scores remain above most other train operators but below our usual high standards and I am determined to bring these scores up to those we achieve in other aspects of our service.”
Of the 79 routes covered by the survey only Island Line, which runs services between Ryde and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, beat Virgin Trains’ score.
