Virgin Holidays were last night confirmed as Britain’s number one long-haul operator, claiming the Globe Travel Awards consumer prize.
The highly respected award ceremony took place in London’s Park Lane, with comedian Jack Whitehall and Travel Weekly Group editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley taking on presenting duties.
“The Globes continue to set the benchmark for industry events, and tonight’s show was a great celebration of our industry as we enter this Olympic year,” explained Clive Jacobs, chairman of Travel Weekly Group.
“Globe winners can truly claim to be the best in the industry, and tonight we have honoured some outstanding companies and individuals.”
The award is of special importance given that it was voted for by customers, rather than a judging panel. The victory continues a proud history for Virgin Holidays at the annual ceremony, having collected awards in previous years.
Winners were able to celebrate long into the night, with a DJ set provided by Radio 1 DJ Trevor Nelson.
