With many of the homeless dog shelters in the State of California currently overpopulated it’s often hard for even the cutest of pets to find a home, resulting in many Chihuahuas going uncared for.
Sad at seeing so many chichis going without love or shelter Virgin America decided to step in, launching ‘Operation Chihuahua’. Years later and with many successful missions in the bag the airline this week began ‘Operation Chihuahua 4.0’.
With the help of Animal Care & Control San Francisco 15 of the Chihuahuas were helped onto a flight bound for New York, where they were adopted by loving carers upon arrival in the Big Apple.

Those not lucky enough to be onboard the flight were able to follow proceedings via #OperationChihuahua on Twitter.
If you wish to find out more about the operation then visit the Virgin America Facebook page, or if you’d like to make a donation towards the cause then you can do so via San Francisco Friends of Animal Care and Control.
