Virgin airlines claim top awards

Virgin Australia and Virgin America have capped off a fine week for the Virgin airlines, both receiving industry awards in recognition of their high standard of service.

Virgin Australia were recognised at the prestigious 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards, in the ‘Best Airline’ and ‘Best Staff Service’ categories in the Australia Pacific region.

The World Airline Awards are decided on by airline passengers from around the world, who judge their end-to-end airline experience in a voluntary survey. This year, the survey was carried out over a 10-month period, included over 200 domestic and international airlines and canvassed the opinions of over 18 million airline passengers.

“The World Airline Awards are highly-regarded in the industry as they are the most comprehensive airline passenger satisfaction survey in the world. We are very proud to have achieved ‘Best Airline’ in our region as it highlights our success in repositioning Virgin Australia as the airline of choice for all market segments,” explained Virgin Australia Group Executive of Brand & Customer Experience Mark Hassell.

Meanwhile, Virgin America followed their world’s best airline award at the Travel + Leisure Awards earlier in the week with a trio of traveller awards. The 2012 World Airline Awards saw the airline pick up best domestic airline, best low-cost airline and best staff service among North American competitors.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized once again with World Airline Awards, since they reflect the views of experienced travelers across the globe,” said Virgin America’s President and CEO David Cush.

“While we are proud to be recognized in all three categories, the award for best staff service is particularly gratifying for our teammates who have worked so hard to build a different kind of domestic airline.”

To experience the service for yourself, visit Virgin America or Virgin Australia and book yourself a flight.
