Female space explorers' historic firsts

Virgin Galactic is celebrating an historic week for female space explorers, with not one but two new milestones.

Project Engineer Melissa Vannoy became the first female Virgin Galactic employee to fly in WhiteKnightTwo!

Melissa, who you can see above, is only the second woman  ever (Allison Knupp of Scaled Composites was the first) to ride on the Virgin Galactic spacecraft.

This follows Liu Yang, China's first female astronaut, heading into outer space earlier this week.

Head over to Virgin Galactic for all the latest news from the world's first commercial spaceline.
