One of the key dates in any astronauts calendar is fast approaching, with April 12th marking the anniversary of the first human spaceflight, the first flight of the space shuttle and many other space milestones.

Virgin Galactic will of course be celebrating the occasion at Yuris Night, with the day holding possibly more importance than any other for those in the global space exploration community.

Yuris Night is a global celebration of humanitys past, future and present, taking place around the world last year saw over 100,000 people attend Yuri Night celebrations across the globe and this year is expected to be just as big.

It is held in commemoration of April 12, 1961, the day of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarins first manned spaceflight, and April 12, 1981, the inaugural launch of NASAs Space Shuttle.

As you can see from the above photo, which features the staff of Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Company, everyone is more than ready to party.

Will you be celebrating Yuris Night? If so let Virgin and Virgin Galactic know
