Your spaceship awaits

Visitors to Farnborough International Airshow - your spaceship awaits!

Looking forward to joining Virgin Galactic at one of the world's most famous aviation events this week. We'll be revealing  our full scale SpaceShipTwo replica - and might bring along a special friend or two as well.

One of the key themes of the event is the future of air travel, which we are proud to be at the forefront of. Commercial space travel is a completely new field, but I'm no stranger to the thrill of aviation at Farnborough and have visited several times.

There is still not a flight that goes by when I don't stare out of the window and thank my stars for what I am seeing and feeling. I love innovation in aviation, in fact I wrote a book all about the history of flight and the people who have made it happen - Reach For The Skies. There will be plenty of these tales brought to life at Farnborough.

We've had plenty of adventures in the air, but they all feel like a precursor to the greatest journey of them all - space. I was 19 when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon, and have always thought that was only the beginning. My whole generation grew up anticipating the day space travel would be possible, and it is now drawing near.

The pioneers of flying are among the most inspirational of people, and I hope we can in some small way arouse an interest in aviation to some future pioneers this week. At Virgin the sky is no longer the limit!
