The day Nelson Mandela was released

Today is the 23rd anniversary of the release of Nelson Mandela from prison. I was fortunate enough to be in South Africa on the streets when he was released. It was an incredibly moving day.

Strange to think he went from sitting in a little cell on Robin Island looking out of his  cell window at the President's large white residence for nearly 27 years, and then leaving that cell to move in to that very same residence. So privileged to have spent so many years with him working together on wonderful projects like The Elders.

One other interesting point: prior to his release Mrs Thatcher named him as one of the world's worst terrorists. Strange how one can go from that to uniting a nation.

Here are 15 of the most important lessons Mandela has shared with us all.
