#shoeathon - a day in my shoes

Before the holidays, I sent Shannon Smith my shoes after she tweeted asking to spend a day in them. There was one condition though: she had to spend the whole day wearing them.

True to her word, she wore the shoes all day on Christmas Eve. As well as doing her day job, she went to the Ascencia Winter Shelter in Glendale to join in a partnership with Ascencia, Social Media Club LA and Invisible People. They served homeless people dinner, handed out gift bags and helped to brighten up the lives of many people.

It’s inspiring to see what a difference Shannon and the other volunteers were able to make. We work to tackle youth homelessness with Virgin Mobile’s RE*Generation campaign and it is an issue close to all of our hearts.

This all started with a tweet. Now we want you to get involved on Twitter to make a difference to Ascencia Winter Shelter in Glendale. For the first 2,000 people to tweet with the hashtag #shoeathon, Virgin Unite and Virgin Mobile will donate to the Ascencia Winter Shelter in Glendale on your behalf. Get tweeting and make a difference today.

UPDATE: In a matter of hours, thanks to all of you we reached our #shoeathon target - @AscenciaCA, there is a donation coming your way.
