Rachel's wish

Rachel Beckwith had a wish for her ninth birthday – to help others. She wanted to raise $300 for charity: water so 15 people could get clean water to drink.

She managed to raise $220, and told her mum she would try harder next year. A month later she was tragically killed in a road accident.

More than $1.2million was raised within months after people across the world heard about Rachel's birthday wish and donated to charity: water.

On the one year anniversary of Rachel's death, Rachel's mum Samantha and grandparents travelled to Ethiopia to meet some of the people Rachel has helped.

60,000 people in over 100 villages will drink clean water because of Rachel’s wish and Rachel’s mum continues to fundraise in Rachel’s honour.

Watch the video above to find out more about Rachel’s touching story and visit her current fundraising campaign to donate.

Age, size or anything else shouldn’t hold any of us back from making a difference in the world. We can all learn from Rachel’s wonderful example and try to help others every day.
