Multi-cultural society

I spend a lot of time travelling around the world and meeting people from all walks of life. One of the first things that stands out when visiting countries is not just their differences compared to other nations, but their similarities. We live in a wonderful multi-cultural society, where people are largely accepted for who they are wherever they go.
So it is extremely saddening when you come across exceptions to this. I was recently forwarded a frighteningly effective and misleading song that took the British national anthem as its inspiration for spreading hateful ideas about overwhelmingly honest, hard-working groups within the UK.
In Britain we are lucky to have an open, diverse, multi-cultural society and it is easy to forget how easily that could be taken away. It is good to have a reminder every now and then of how much progress has been made in the world, and why we should all strive to continue moving forwards together.
