Just back from Copenhagen. It was a quick trip but I met a fascinating group of mayors, from Los Angeles, Vancouver and Calgary. They are all keen to drive change through their cities so we discussed improving buildings and modernising their ports.
I participated in an event on saving the rain forests and met inspiring leaders like President of Guyana Bharrat Jagdeo and Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. Guyana has been harvesting its forests in a responsible way while Norway has committed $1bn of investment to save the forests. I really believe that we will see more key actions on the forests after this agreement.
I also met President Nasheem of the Maldives. He is an amazing man and can teach us all a lesson or two on PR and grabbing people's attention. Holding a cabinet meeting under water was inspired.
As I left Copenhagen, the leaders were arriving to hammer out an agreement. I am hopeful that we will see an agreement of sorts and a meaningful move in the right direction. A key 36 hours is coming up. Read my plea to them here.
