What’s happening in Syria shows how important it is for us all to live in truly democratic countries.
It is turning into a complete nightmare, and it would be so much better to sort it out in the ballot box.
The world must do everything we can to move undemocratic countries to democratic ones.
Former secretary general of the United Nations Kofi Annan, who briefly stepped down from The Elders to become the joint-special envoy for Syria of the UN and the Arab League, has published an extremely important article on the situation ahead of today’s crucial meeting in Geneva on Syria.
He calls for all participants at the meeting to help “turn the tide of violence and embark on a road to peace in which the Syrian people determine their future”. Read the full article over at the Washington Post.
