Joining The Giving Pledge

Delighted to  join The Giving Pledge with my wife Joan, a commitment to dedicate the majority of our wealth to philanthropy.

‘Stuff’ really is not what brings happiness. Family, friends, good health and the satisfaction that comes from making a positive difference are what really matters. Happily our children, who will be our principal heirs, agree with me on this.

The Giving Pledge was formed in the US by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett in 2010. We look forward to working with them in expanding the number of people who are part of this pledge outside America.

This makes individuals sit up and think. Hopefully, the vast majority will realise there are better ways of using wealth than leaving it to future generations.
