Five wonderful years of The Elders

Five years ago today Nelson Mandela started The Elders to help resolve conflicts around the globe and to be the world’s moral authority and conscience.

Together they have worked to tackle some of the world's most intractable problems, helping to promote peace in Sudan, Cyprus, Israel, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, North Korea, Kenya and many other places.

Tonight we celebrate five wonderful years with some of The Elders, including Archbishop Tutu, President Carter and Mary Robinson. Kofi Annan will not be there as he is working hard to help resolve the horrors of Syria.

You can watch The Elders live in conversation with Jon Snow in London from 7pm GMT tonight.
