Doing the running man for Virgin Money Giving
- Oct 16, 2009
I had an energetic start on Wednesday morning and had a full day of telling people about Virgin Money Giving and our sponsorship of the Virgin London Marathon. Joining in with 200 people in our take on the running man dance was a great way to start the day - and to dust off my training shoes...
Virgin Money Giving is an organisation that I am very proud of. It reflects my belief that profit should be used to do something good for society at large and that’s exactly what Virgin Money has done in creating www.virginmoneygiving.com.
Whether it’s running a marathon, doing the running man, swimming the channel or sitting in a bath of baked beans, fundraisers give their all to raise money for the causes close to their hearts. I believe only charities should profit from their hard work.
We’ve already seen some great fundraising ideas from people eager to support and raise money for charities close to their hearts.
Take Greg Clark for example. Last year he walked to Spain, from England. His mates told him he cheated by using a ferry to cross the Channel. So, to silence his 'critics' this year he's going back to swim the bit he 'missed'! Greg’s doing this to raise money for Childreach's projects, helping local communitities to break a cycle of poverty in Africa and South Asia and transforming kids lives. Just one example of the amazing things fundraisers that use Virgin Money Giving do to support good causes.
Why not start your own page and raise money for a charity that you feel passionate about?
As I announced on Wednesday, I will be running the marathon and I will be raising money for Virgin Unite, a charity that aims to help revolutionise the way businesses and the social sector work together – driving business as a force for good.
I am giving one person the chance to run with me, through the Run with Richard competition. Check the Run With Richard page over on Virgin Money Giving's site for further details and to enter.
I promise, the chances are you will beat me!!!
