Birds of paradise

The birds of paradise – quite the most remarkable birds on earth. The Birds of Paradise Project is the result of eight years of hard work by Cornell Lab scientist Ed Scholes, National Geographic photojournalist Tim Laman and their teams.

They went on 18 expeditions to Australia, New Guinea and nearby islands and finally succeeded in capturing images of all 39 species in the bird-of-paradise family for the first time ever. Hats off to them for their patience in getting this beautiful footage.

Watch the video above for an introduction to the project and to get a feel for the sheer beauty of the birds.
