50 Shades of Grey to Black Lace

Finished reading 50 Shades of Grey (I borrowed my wife Joan’s copy!) My interest was piqued as it has been such a huge global phenomenon.
Was particularly amused to see one of the drivers for the success has been that people download the book on e-readers and no one can tell what they are reading while on the tube or trains.
Virgin Atlantic have even introduced e-books onto our planes so people can enjoy 50 Shades of Grey at 35,000 feet!
However, I wasn’t particularly impressed with 50 Shades of Grey, it was a bit Mills & Boon. Classic erotic books such as Story of O by Pauline Réage and Anais Nin's novels are beautifully written pieces of literature, as well as thrilling reads. It didn’t quite match up.
Nevertheless, it’s great that there is an appetite for erotic books at the moment – we’ve never been shy of being a touch risqué here at Virgin! With that in mind, Virgin Books are relaunching our Black Lace label of erotic novels, including The Ninety Days of Genevieve.
When it comes to erotic fiction, you can’t beat the originals!
